Being Friendly With Carbohydrates
For those who are trying to lose weight, carbohydrates have become a nemesis. They stay away from foods containing this ingredient in order to hasten their slimming process. While it is true that carbs, when not burned through physical activities, are stored in the body leading into excess pounds, this substance also has benefits that the body needs.
There is no need to totally shy away from this biological compound found in certain foods. It is a choice between simple or complex forms. This food group is a source of energy needed for daily activities. One just has to choose the healthier preparations.
The most nourishing would be vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans which are loaded in fibers, minerals and vitamins. In sandwiches, use wheat, barley and rye breads. These items are good sources of glucose that is converted into energy.
It would be best to avoid processed foods like pasta, white bread, white rice and pastries. Instead of soda, which is loaded with sugar, take water or natural juices. These are examples of foods that are culprits in weight gain.
For breakfast, fill up the bowl with whole grain cereals. One can also have oatmeal to start the day. Make sure oats and cereals have high fiber content. Also choose whole foods when snacking.
A glass of orange juice might seem to be the healthiest choice. Then again, taking fruits in their natural state beats juices. Fruits are most beneficial when eaten whole, raw and unadulterated.
There are dishes people call as comfort food. Majority of these are pastas, breads and sweet treats like cakes and cookies. There is nothing wrong in having some of these once in a while as long as they are taken in minimal servings. However, choosing the healthier selection would be most advantageous to one’s health and weight.
